Nerd vs Popular School Girl Alter-Ego Photo
This was one my very first attempt at creating and Alter Ego composite. After the well known Mr. Blanks made the art form a forefront conversation, I had many clients asking if I could create one for them. I told a few clients that I didn’t know what an Alter Ego photo at first . Many referred to the creations featured on the hit show House Wives of Atlanta. Finally I felt I should give it a try. The image you see featured here is actually a composite image. I purchased the license to use the locker room as a background and photographed the model in positions that would make it look realistic. Toni M was the perfect model with the wide range of expressions. She easily transformed from the “ego” of model popular chic, to the scared and unpopular nerd.
After photographing each image for the Alter Ego, it was time for photoshop. I started with the usual corrections of color blemishes and cropping. Next was the task of getting the shadows correct. Correct shadows are a must if you want to really convince the viewer that the environment is a real one. In the final stages of editting I began to smile at my work. This is still one of my favorite alter ego photos because of the visually contrasting personas.
